Class Teacher

Cotswold Chine, part of Novalis Trust, is a small independent residential and day special school for young people aged 7-19 years. The school is trauma informed, attachment focused and relationship based supporting young people who in some cases have experienced childhood trauma and adversity and who as a result have complex needs. The post is suitable for teachers qualified in primary or secondary and applications from all subject specialisms are welcome. An NQT or a teacher within their first years of teaching is welcome to apply. Experience in special needs is not essential as training is provided. The ability to form relationships with young people and a flexible approach to working with others are important. The successful candidate will teach and nurture a small class group of 4-8 students and will initially be supported by a more experienced teacher. This is an opportunity to join the school at a time of growth and development in professional understanding of trauma and attachment disorders. 

Starting Salary £23,569(QTS) pa, or £21,490(NQT)pa.  Teachers with relevant experience will be placed at the appropriate level of the pay scale.

Waking Night Support Worker

William Morris College is nestled between the banks of the River Frome and the Stroud water canal on the edge of Easington and offers a unique, caring environment that is both therapeutic and educational for young adults who live within our residential homes. The Trust supports young adults with learning disabilities and who, in some cases, have experienced childhood trauma and adversity and who, as a result, have complex needs.

We are looking for Waking Night Support Workers to help our Student/Residents in their residential settings throughout the night.

Requirements include:

  • Ability to support individuals with their personal care needs
  • Flexible attitude

RQF 3 in Health & Social Care is preferred or an applicant with willingness to work towards achieving this qualification.

Hours of Work

  • 9.00 pm to 7.00 am
  • 80 hours over a two week period, under a set rota to include every other weekend
  • Opportunity to pick up additional hours to cover holidays

52 week permanent contract.

Rate of Pay:

  • £10.00 per hour based on experience.

Domestic Cleaner at Cotswold Chine School – 3 days a week

The successful candidate will have an active role in ensuring the house is kept clean and tidy whilst maintaining a warm and homely environment and should be self motivated with the ability to work flexibly within the Domestic Team.

Roofer – Novalis Trust

Providing support across all sites, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated full time Roofer to support the Trust’s Maintenance Team.

As a vital member of the team you will take pride in the development and maintenance of our properties and be able to demonstrate some trade skills in addition to your primary trade.

Roofer responsibilities: We are looking for a skilled roofer, experienced in a variety of roof coverings including natural stone. Additional skills in carpentry or any other trades are advantageous.

Roofer requirements:  Strong practical skills and first-hand knowledge of pitched roof covering & replacement, Velux window installation, timber fascia and soffit replacement, rainwater goods, carpentry, and additional skills in flat roofing would be advantageous

  • Ability to diagnose, undertake and complete pitched roof covering repair & replacement installations to industry standards
  • Full, clean driving licence.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm

Joiner/Carpenter – Novalis Trust

Providing support across all sites, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated full time joiner/ carpenter to support and to co-manage the Trust’s woodwork shop and associated woodwork tasks. We would like someone with an interest in learning new skills on the job. A full driving licence would be an advantage.

Clinical and Therapy Assistant- Novalis Trust

We are looking for Clinical and Therapy Assistants to work as part of an established, multi-disciplinary therapy team.   The role will involve supporting young people on an individual basis and in groups.  They will support within the different settings across the Charity, such as education, therapy and residential care settings.

The role would ideally suit a psychology degree graduate or health and social care sciences graduate.

Salary: £21,000 per annum

Hours of Work: Based on a two week rota you will work an average of 40 hours per week either days/evenings between the hours of 7.30am-9pm with one sleep-in required every two weeks.

Youth Support Worker- Cotswold Chine School

As a Youth Support Worker you will work with young people who have complex needs aged between 7-19 years and support and engage in activities to help them develop socially supporting them in engaging in our waking day curriculum.

Experience of working with young people is essential.  We are looking for people with excellent communication and listening skills.  You will be motivated and organised, be flexible, adaptable in your approach and able to support the team in creatively planning timetables/activities effectively.

Salary: £21,000 per annum

Hours of Work: Based on a two week rota you will work an average of 40 hours per week either days/evenings between the hours of 9am-9pm and with two weekend days per month

Care Worker at Paradise House

Starting Salary and Hours of Work: Every care worker works a two week fixed rota. There is an expectation that carers will work every weekend, one week being a Saturday and the following being a Sunday. On average each care worker will have 3 days off per week in addition to some weekday mornings.  Example of earnings (pre RQF3) £2,000 average per month, dependant on the number of shifts worked.  Higher rates of pay apply with RQF3.

Cook at Paradise House

The cook will be based in one of the houses providing a homely and caring environment for adults with learning disabilities.  Duties include following a set menu using fresh vegetables, preparing and cooking meals for approximately 14 people whilst taking into account any special dietary need.  The successful candidate should be self-motivated with the ability to work flexibly within the domestic team, ensuring the home kitchen is kept clean whilst maintaining a warm and homely environment.

Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, driven and passionate Occupational Therapist to join a well-established multi-disciplinary team. There is an established clinical therapy team at Novalis Trust which consists of Occupational Therapists.

The Trust provides care and education for children and young people with special educational needs and therapeutic residential care for adults with learning disabilities. The role will involve providing integrated Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention working within both education and residential settings.

The post would be based across all of the three services within Novalis Trust .  This would include opportunities to support the young people and residents with achieving their therapy goals within areas such as sensory, physical, emotional literacy, emotional regulation and independent living skills.

It is essential that the candidate is able to work within a team and can evidence their excellent communication skills with the ability to autonomously manager their own caseload.  It is recommended they have some post qualification experience, however newly qualified individuals with the ability to transfer relevant experience from placements are welcome to apply.  You must be able to demonstrate evidence of core Occupational Therapy skills, and be registered with HCPC.

There is an established clinical therapy team at Novalis Trust, which consists of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers and Psychotherapists. There are regular clinical and therapy team meetings to discuss, share and track progress within the individual’s therapy and to document outcomes of therapeutic interventions. This post will provide opportunities to develop your professional skills whilst being supported through working in an established team of experienced therapists.

The role will involve providing integrated Occupational Therapy standardised and observation based assessments and delivering interventions. This may include advising on specialist equipment, developing programmes to help rebuilding lost skills and restore confidence, advising on domestic and work place environmental alterations and coaching young people and residents in social skills and anxiety and behaviour management. In addition, a strong focus will be on implementing sensory regulation strategies working within a trauma informed and attachment focused model of approach.

There is a strong emphasis towards continuing professional development and regular opportunities for clinical supervision with experienced clinicians at the trust. The trust offers additional training within the areas of trauma informed care and family work. Furthermore, there are opportunities for external training outside of Novalis Trust including further training in Sensory Integration with the Sensory Integration Network. We offer a supportive working environment and put a significant emphasis on sharing good practice through effective team working.

Starting Salary: £25,000 – £28,000 per annum depending on experience

Full Time Key Worker required for Cotswold Chine School

Cotswold Chine School, in Box, nr Stroud offers a unique, caring environment that is both therapeutic and educational for young people aged 7-19 who live within our house groups. The Trust supports young people who in some cases have experienced childhood trauma and adversity and who as a result have complex needs.

Every Key Worker works a two week fixed rota, which includes two overnight shifts each week. There is an expectation that Key Workers work every weekend, which is a Saturday one week and a Sunday the following week. On average, Key Workers will have three/four days off per week (generally 2 weekdays and 1 day each weekend) in addition to some weekday mornings.

The post would suit those interested in developing a career in care whilst also acquiring and developing skills and experience. Staff are offered regular professional supervision and access to a comprehensive training programme including QCF3, and other training to help support the role.

Example of earnings (pre-QCF3): £2,000 average per month before tax, depending upon number of shifts worked. Higher rates of pay apply with QCF3.
