Activities Assistant – Paradise House

Paradise House is a beautiful Residential Home (on the main bus route) set in the Painswick Valley, for adults with learning disabilities aged 18-65 who live within the four homes.

The role is to support Residents in engaging with activities in the day, evening and at weekends.  Experience of working with Adults with learning disabilities is preferable but not essential.

We are looking for people with excellent communication and listening skills, who are motivated and organised, flexible, adaptable in their approach and able to support the management team in creatively planning timetables for activities effectively.

Hours of Work: Based on a two week rota you will work an average of 49 hours per week either days or evenings between the hours of 8.30am-9.30pm and with one sleep in a week and one weekend day every other weekend between 9am-9.30pm.

52 weeks per annum

Holidays: 28 days paid holiday per annum (incl of Bank Holidays)

Care Worker at Paradise House

Starting Salary and Hours of Work: Every care worker works a two week fixed rota. There is an expectation that carers will work every weekend, one week being a Saturday and the following being a Sunday. On average each care worker will have 3 days off per week in addition to some weekday mornings.  Example of earnings (pre RQF3) £2,000 average per month, dependant on the number of shifts worked.  Higher rates of pay apply with RQF3.

Cook at Paradise House

The cook will be based in one of the houses providing a homely and caring environment for adults with learning disabilities.  Duties include following a set menu using fresh vegetables, preparing and cooking meals for approximately 14 people whilst taking into account any special dietary need.  The successful candidate should be self-motivated with the ability to work flexibly within the domestic team, ensuring the home kitchen is kept clean whilst maintaining a warm and homely environment.

Starting Salary: to be confirmed depending on experience

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 9am – 2.30pm

Key Worker at William Morris College

William Morris is nestled between the banks of the River Frome and the Stroud Water Canal on the edge of Eastington and offers a unique caring environment that is both therapeutic and educational for young adults who live within our residential homes.

The post would suit those interested in  developing a career in care whilst also acquiring and developing skills and experience.  Staff are offered professional supervision and access to a comprehensive training programme including RQF3 and other training to support the role. 

Starting Salary: Example of earnings (pre RQF3) £18,300pa average for year before tax.  Higher rates of pay apply with RQF3.

Hours of Work: The key worker role involves working a two week fixed rota, which is on average 40 hours per week. This will include working every other weekend. Key workers have the opportunity to pick up additional hours if available.

The successful candidate will have an active role in ensuring the residential homes are kept clean and tidy whilst maintaining a warm and homely environment and should be self motivated with the ability to work flexibly within the Domestic Team.

Hours of Work:  52 weeks per year. Monday to Friday – 9am to 2.30pm.

Holidays: 21 days paid holiday per annum during term time (39 wk role) or 28 days per annum (52 wk role)

Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, driven and passionate Occupational Therapist to join a well-established multi-disciplinary team. There is an established clinical therapy team at Novalis Trust which consists of Occupational Therapists.

The Trust provides care and education for children and young people with special educational needs and therapeutic residential care for adults with learning disabilities. The role will involve providing integrated Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention working within both education and residential settings.

The post would be based across all of the three services within Novalis Trust .  This would include opportunities to support the young people and residents with achieving their therapy goals within areas such as sensory, physical, emotional literacy, emotional regulation and independent living skills.

It is essential that the candidate is able to work within a team and can evidence their excellent communication skills with the ability to autonomously manager their own caseload.  It is recommended they have some post qualification experience, however newly qualified individuals with the ability to transfer relevant experience from placements are welcome to apply.  You must be able to demonstrate evidence of core Occupational Therapy skills, and be registered with HCPC.

There is an established clinical therapy team at Novalis Trust, which consists of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers and Psychotherapists. There are regular clinical and therapy team meetings to discuss, share and track progress within the individual’s therapy and to document outcomes of therapeutic interventions. This post will provide opportunities to develop your professional skills whilst being supported through working in an established team of experienced therapists.

The role will involve providing integrated Occupational Therapy standardised and observation based assessments and delivering interventions. This may include advising on specialist equipment, developing programmes to help rebuilding lost skills and restore confidence, advising on domestic and work place environmental alterations and coaching young people and residents in social skills and anxiety and behaviour management. In addition, a strong focus will be on implementing sensory regulation strategies working within a trauma informed and attachment focused model of approach.

There is a strong emphasis towards continuing professional development and regular opportunities for clinical supervision with experienced clinicians at the trust. The trust offers additional training within the areas of trauma informed care and family work. Furthermore, there are opportunities for external training outside of Novalis Trust including further training in Sensory Integration with the Sensory Integration Network. We offer a supportive working environment and put a significant emphasis on sharing good practice through effective team working.

Starting Salary: £25,000 – £28,000 per annum depending on experience

Full Time Key Worker required for Cotswold Chine School

Cotswold Chine School, in Box, nr Stroud offers a unique, caring environment that is both therapeutic and educational for young people aged 7-19 who live within our house groups. The Trust supports young people who in some cases have experienced childhood trauma and adversity and who as a result have complex needs.

Every Key Worker works a two week fixed rota, which includes two overnight shifts each week. There is an expectation that Key Workers work every weekend, which is a Saturday one week and a Sunday the following week. On average, Key Workers will have three/four days off per week (generally 2 weekdays and 1 day each weekend) in addition to some weekday mornings.
